  1. How much does a website cost?

We offer a "Starter Website" for £299 (inc. vat) which enables you to quickly establish a web presence. The package includes:
    • A customized, three page website,
    • A registered UK domain name,
    • One year of basic website hosting,
    • A 10% discount on many add-on features, such as maps, photo galleries, or on-line forms.
If your needs are more complex, we offer a free consultation and provide you with our recommendations, a specification of work, and a fixed price quotation.

  2. ... and when do I have to pay?

You pay a deposit of 25% of the total fee when you accept the quotation and sign the contract. Your website will be developed on a temporary working server where you will be able to view it as the work proceeds. On completion of the design you pay the balance of the fee and your website will be moved to a permanent server and will "come online".

  3. How long does it take?

A basic website will be up and running within a week of receiving your pictures and text.

  4. Will having a website create a lot of work for me?

There are two aspects to this question: the amount of work to set up the website, and the amount of work necessary to maintain it.

At the design stage you will need to:
    1. tell us the purpose of the website and the intended audience. i.e. what do you want it to do?
    2. provide text that you wish to appear on the website
    3. provide photographs that you wish to be included
    4. discuss the style that you are looking for - perhaps a list of websites that you like.
This can take you some time to prepare, particularly while you are trying to run your business. We can help with items 2-4.

The amount of work involved in running a website clearly depends upon the nature of the site and how volatile the data it contains, but we would always avoid introducing unnecessary material that would quickly become dated. A simple, static website would require little or no maintenance. We could make occasional updates for you, charged at our hourly rate. Where regular updates are needed, (as stock, or prices, or bookings change), you should consider using a Content Management System.

  5. I have already got a company logo, can I use it on my website?

Yes, this is a common request. And conversely, you can use any graphics created for your website on your stationery as you will own the copyright.

  6. What happens if something goes wrong with my website?

Firstly, it is very unusual for anything to go wrong with a website. If we host your website you will receive free technical support covering hardware or email problems, and you will receive three monthly statistics on visitors to your site. If you choose to host your site with another company (and there is no problem if you do), you will have to resolve technical problems with that company yourself.

  7. Can you make my website rank #1 on a Google search?

It depends! If you want potential customers to find your website using a search engine, one must first identify the likely keywords a customer might type in, and then optimize your site to rank well for those keywords. This is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and is an additional service that we offer.
